What Brisbane is like to work in
Working in Brisbane means understanding a river city of low density suburbs where most movement happens by car. Our operatives plan around that rather than turning up and hoping. Where a matter runs across several days we rotate vehicles and positions so that a familiar car never becomes part of the scenery.
We regularly work across Ipswich, Logan, Redcliffe, Chermside, Mount Gravatt, Indooroopilly and Cleveland.
Legal limits in Queensland
Before anything starts, you should understand what is and is not permitted. Observation in a public place is generally lawful. Devices are what the law controls. In Queensland the Invasion of Privacy Act 1971 (Qld) governs listening devices, optical devices, tracking devices and data surveillance, and licensing of investigators falls under the Security Providers Act 1993 (Qld), administered by the Office of Fair Trading. If we are asked to do something that falls outside those rules, we will say no and explain why, and we will suggest a lawful way at the same problem.
Who we are
A few facts about us, so you can check them. Sydney Private Investigations has been operating since 2002 and trades as GORA Investigations Pty Ltd, ABN 34 600 932 438. We hold NSW Master Licence 412080174 and VIC Master Licence Z6583160S. Work in Queensland is conducted in accordance with the Security Providers Act 1993 (Qld), administered by the Office of Fair Trading, and where a locally licensed operative is required we engage one rather than cutting a corner.
If your matter really belongs with police or with a solicitor, we will tell you that instead of selling you surveillance.
Frequently asked questions
Will anybody know I hired an investigator?
No. Our work is covert, our vehicles are unmarked and we report only to you, using whatever contact method you tell us is safe.
What if you cannot help me?
We will say so. There are matters that belong with police, with a lawyer or with nobody at all, and we would rather tell you that than take your money.
Are you licensed to operate here?
We hold NSW Master Licence 412080174 and VIC Master Licence Z6583160S and trade as GORA Investigations Pty Ltd, ABN 34 600 932 438. Where work in Queensland requires a locally licensed operative we engage one.
Can you put a tracking device on a vehicle?
Only where it is lawful, which generally means a vehicle you own. The Invasion of Privacy Act 1971 (Qld) restricts tracking devices and we will not breach it.
How will I receive the report?
In writing, with an indexed log and any supporting media. We can send it to you directly or straight to your solicitor.
Other areas we cover
