Private Investigators in Adelaide

Sydney Private Investigations has been investigating since 2002. We work throughout Adelaide, the capital of South Australia and a compact, well planned city, and across the wider South Australia region. The first conversation is free and nothing is committed in it.

What we do in Adelaide

On the ground in Adelaide

Working in Adelaide means understanding a city on a plain between the hills and the gulf, with predictable movement corridors. Our operatives plan around that rather than turning up and hoping. Where a matter runs across several days we rotate vehicles and positions so that a familiar car never becomes part of the scenery.

We regularly work across Port Adelaide, Glenelg, Salisbury, Elizabeth, Marion, Norwood and Mount Barker.

The law in South Australia

It is worth being clear about the legal position. Observation in a public place is generally lawful. Devices are what the law controls. In South Australia the Surveillance Devices Act 2016 (SA) governs listening devices, optical devices, tracking devices and data surveillance, and licensing of investigators falls under the Security and Investigation Industry Act 1995 (SA), administered by Consumer and Business Services. Evidence gathered outside those limits is worthless to you, and it hands the other side a much better story than the one you were trying to tell.

Who you are dealing with

Anybody can claim experience. Here is what can be verified. Sydney Private Investigations has been operating since 2002 and trades as GORA Investigations Pty Ltd, ABN 34 600 932 438. We hold NSW Master Licence 412080174 and VIC Master Licence Z6583160S. Work in South Australia is conducted in accordance with the Security and Investigation Industry Act 1995 (SA), administered by Consumer and Business Services, and where a locally licensed operative is required we engage one rather than cutting a corner.

We are not a call centre that farms work out to whoever answers. You speak to an investigator, and if we cannot help we will say so rather than take a deposit.

Frequently asked questions

Will anybody know I hired an investigator?

No. Our work is covert, our vehicles are unmarked and we report only to you, using whatever contact method you tell us is safe.

Can I use what you find in court?

Material gathered lawfully and documented properly is generally admissible. We keep original files unaltered and can provide a statement from the operative if a matter proceeds.

Are you licensed to operate here?

We hold NSW Master Licence 412080174 and VIC Master Licence Z6583160S and trade as GORA Investigations Pty Ltd, ABN 34 600 932 438. Where work in South Australia requires a locally licensed operative we engage one.

Do I have to come into an office?

No. Most of our clients never meet us in person. Briefings happen by phone and reports are delivered the way you ask for them.

Can you put a tracking device on a vehicle?

Only where it is lawful, which generally means a vehicle you own. The Surveillance Devices Act 2016 (SA) restricts tracking devices and we will not breach it.
