Bug Sweeping in Victoria
If you are here, you have probably already tried the obvious things. If you have the feeling that somebody knows things they should not, there is often a reason for it. We conduct technical surveillance counter measures across Victoria, sweeping homes, offices, boardrooms and vehicles for listening devices, hidden cameras, trackers and unauthorised transmitters. You will not be judged for asking, and you will not be pressured into proceeding.
Victoria is a state of close to seven million people built on manufacturing, agriculture, education, healthcare and financial services. Call 1300 773 293 at any hour, or read on for how we handle bug sweeping here.
What brings people to us in Victoria
- Negotiations have gone badly in a way that suggests the other side was informed
- A rental property or short stay accommodation feels wrong
- An employee has left under bad terms and had access to your premises
- You are about to hold a sensitive board or legal meeting
- A device has appeared in a shared vehicle
- Meetings in one particular room seem to leak
What Victoria is like to work in
Covering Victoria means working from the Melbourne metropolitan area across the Bellarine, the Goldfields, Gippsland and the Murray. Distance is the main constraint, so we plan around it: we confirm the ground before an operative is committed, and we tell you when travel time is going to make a job uneconomic rather than billing you for a day in a car.
We work regularly across Melbourne, Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo, and we travel further into Victoria where a matter calls for it.
Our approach to bug sweeping in Victoria
- We discuss the situation and identify which spaces genuinely need sweeping
- We attend discreetly, often outside business hours, so the sweep itself is not advertised
- A radio frequency sweep identifies active transmitting devices
- We photograph and document anything found in place before it is touched
- Network and line checks are conducted where relevant
- We advise on which conversations to keep out of the space until it is cleared
What you will pay
We would rather talk about money early than surprise you later. Sweeps are quoted by the number and size of the areas to be covered. A single vehicle or a home office in Victoria is a straightforward fixed fee. A full commercial premises takes longer and is quoted after a short scoping conversation. Travel outside Victoria is charged separately. You can stop at any review point. We do not lock people into blocks they no longer need.
Bug Sweeping and the law in Victoria
There is a lot of nonsense online about what an investigator may do, so here is the accurate version. The use of listening and optical devices is controlled in Victoria by the Surveillance Devices Act 1999 (Vic), and installing one to record a private conversation you are not part of is generally a criminal offence. If we locate a device, we advise you on preserving it properly rather than pulling it out, because how it is handled affects whether it can be used later in a police complaint or a court matter. An investigator who offers to step over that line is telling you they will break the law on your behalf, which should worry you rather than reassure you.
This is general information rather than legal advice. If your matter is already before a court, speak to your solicitor about what evidence will assist and we will work to that brief.

Frequently asked questions
What can you actually detect?
Radio transmitting bugs, GSM and mobile based listening devices, hidden cameras including wired and battery units, GPS trackers on vehicles, and recording devices found by physical search.
Should I tell my staff about the sweep?
Usually not. If somebody inside the organisation is responsible, advance warning gives them time to remove the device and reinstall it later.
How long does a sweep take?
A vehicle or a single room takes about an hour. A house or a small office is usually half a day. Larger commercial premises take longer.
Is a phone app enough to find a bug?
No. Consumer apps do not reliably detect anything and give false confidence. Proper detection needs calibrated equipment and a physical search.
Do you sweep in regional Victoria?
Yes. We travel throughout the state and charge travel transparently.
