Voice Activated Recording Device

A 68mm recorder that starts capturing when it hears sound and stops when the room goes quiet, which is how it gets five days out of a charge. Sixteen bit audio with automatic gain control, so it holds a usable level whether the room is loud or quiet. It picks up clearly at ten to twelve metres.

Before you record anyone, read this

Whether you can lawfully record a conversation depends on which state you are in and whether you are part of it.

You are part of the conversation. In Victoria, Queensland, the Northern Territory and the ACT you can generally record without telling the others. In New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania you generally cannot, unless a narrow exception applies, such as the recording being reasonably necessary to protect your lawful interests.

You are not part of the conversation. You cannot record it, anywhere in Australia. Leaving a recorder in a room to capture a conversation you are not in is a listening device offence, and that is true regardless of whose house or office it is.

What you do with a recording is regulated separately from making it. Sending it to other people or publishing it can be an offence even where the recording itself was lawful.
